Trump’s funding request for U.S. border wall hits snag among some Republicans

WASHINGTON ( ) – President Donald Trump’s call for $1.5 billion this year to help build a wall along the border with Mexico could be in jeopardy as fellow Republicans in Congress weigh delaying a decision on the request.

Republican Senator Roy Blunt, a member of his party’s leadership, told reporters on Tuesday that money for the wall likely would not be coupled with a spending bill that must pass by April 28 to avoid shutting down federal agencies whose funding expires then.

Blunt said the must-do funding “comes together better” without Trump’s additional request for the border wall and military programs and could be considered “at a later time.”

Democrats are threatening to block the bill funding federal agencies from April 29 to Sept. 30, the end of the current fiscal year, if money for the border 上海夜网wall is included.

They object to one of Trump’s premier 2016 campaign promises, saying it is poorly planned and that there are other border security measures already constructed or under consideration.

When he ran for president, Trump pledged Mexico would pay to build the wall, designed to keep illegal immigrants and drugs from entering the United States. The Mexican government has said it will not do so.

The initiative has also faced resistance among Republicans, including lawmakers representing some border towns. The federal government would have to purchase land in many locations in order to construct the edifice, which could make construction costs soar.

reported the wall could end up costing as much as $21.6 billion, far more than the $12 billion Trump cited.

Representative Mario Diaz-Balart also expressed skepticism about Congress’ ability to approve funds for the wall, given the super-majority vote needed in the Senate for most major legislation.

Asked about the wall, Diaz-Balart, a senior member of the House of Representatives’ Appropriations Committee and a leading voice on immigration policy, said: “I’m always willing to look at other things we can do to try to get that 60-vote threshold” on border and interior security.

Lawmakers said progress was being made on legislation to keep the government running beyond April 28.

House Speaker Paul Ryan removed another potential land mine on Tuesday when he said a Republican drive to end federal funding for women’s healthcare provider Planned Parenthood would be best accomplished on legislation other than the upcoming funding bill.

Democrats have vowed to stop the must-do money bill if it ended Planned Parenthood’s federal funds.

Brexit chaos holding back UK tech sector: London mayor

LONDON ( ) – London’s booming technology sector could be making even faster progress if the gridlock over Brexit wasn’t depriving thousands of start-ups and big tech companies of the certainty they need over policy, London mayor Sadiq Khan said on Monday.

Speaking on the op上海夜生活论坛ening day of London Tech Week, Europe’s biggest technology festival, Khan said Brexit had drained government resources and attention away from important debates, such as over the use artificial intelligence (AI).

“There’s no doubt that as a country we should be much further ahead than we are now – not only in terms of making sure we can make the most of what (AI) has to offer, but in terms of educating the public, encouraging public debate and preparing for the potential impact on our society,” he said.

Britain voted to leave the European Union nearly three years ago but there is little clarity on how or when it will happen.

Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May has failed to get her Brexit divorce agreement over the line, resulting in the end of her premiership, and Khan’s Labour party is also split, in particular over a second referendum.

Khan said there was a “huge amount of uncertainty” over Brexit, hitting investment in London and the rest of Britain.

“The best way to break the gridlock, is for the British public to have a say for the first time: ‘Do we accept the deal negotiated by the government’, with the option of remaining in the European Union,” he told in an interview. “I think it should happen sooner than later.”

He said the Labour party needed to be clearer about its policy, and back a public vote.

Despite Brexit uncertainty, Khan said London’s tech sector was flourishing.

“There’s a real energy and fizz here,” he said, adding London was home to more AI companies than Berlin and Paris combined.

Tech companies based in the city attracted a record 2.56 billion pounds ($3.26 billion) in venture capital in the first six months of 2019, more than twice as much as those in Berlin, the Mayor of London’s investment agency said on Monday.

Some of the largest investment deals in the first half of the year included 441 million pounds for e-commerce food delivery firm Deliveroo. Online payments business Checkout.com, meanwhile, raised 176 million pounds, the agency said.

The city also attracted more foreign direct investment projects from overseas tech companies than any other city in the past 12 months, London & Partners said, with 91 international technology companies investing a total of 864 million pounds.

U.S. tech giants such as Apple, Google and Facebook have announced major investments in London in recent years.

Khan has a long-running feud with Donald Trump that was re-ignited last week when the U.S. president arrived in London for a state visit, an invitation criticized by the mayor. Trump tweeted that Khan was a “stone cold loser”.

“I think it is up to Donald Trump to answer why he is obsessed with me,” Khan said.

“I speak almost on a daily basis with Americans who love our city, many of them are embarrassed by what their president is doing, but it’s for him to explain his behavior,” he said. “But I am clear, we are a pro-America city.”

MONEY MARKETS-U.S.-China trade war lifts bets on U.S. rate cut

(Adds graphic, Fed’s Rosengren comments in interview)

By Richard Leong

NEW YORK, May 13 ( ) – Interest rate traders increased their bets the U.S. Federal Reserve would lower interest rates by year-end to counter a domestic economic slowdown stemming from an escalation in the trade war between China and the United States.

The expectations of a rate decrease in December returned to the highest levels that were seen in March after Fed policy-makers signaled they would not raise rates in 2019.

On Monday, Beijing said it planned to set import tariffs ranging from 5% to 25% on 5,140 U.S. products on a revised $60-billion target list. It said the tariffs would take effect on June 1.

China’s retaliatory measure followed Washington’s tariff increase on $200 billion of Chinese imports on Friday as talks between the world’s biggest economies unexpectedly broke down. U.S. President Donald Trump has said the Chinese government backtracked on commitments it made during months of negotiations.

Analysts worry the tension between the two parties will spiral into a trade war that would harm the global economy.

“If growth concerns were coupled with a major correction in equity markets the Fed would certainly be pushed closer to cutting interest rates,” Andrew Hollenhorst, chief U.S. economist with Citigroup, wrote in a research note.

Boston Federal Reserve President Eric Rosengren told on Monday that the Fed would be able to respond to any slowdown from the U.S.-China trade dispute.

“If the impact of the tariffs – and whatever financial market reaction to those tariffs is – causes more of a slowdown, then we do have the tools available to us, including lower interest rates, not that I’m necessarily expecting this will generate the need to do that,” said Rosengren, who is a voter on the Fed’s rate-setting committee this year.

At 3:44 p.m. (1944 GMT), federal funds futures implied traders saw about a 74% chance the U.S. central bank would lower the target range on short-term rates by a quarter point to 2.00%-2.25% at its Dec. 10-11 policy meeting. This compared with a 64% implied likelihood late on Friday, according to CME Group’s FedWatch program.

A month ago, futures 上海夜生活网prices suggested traders saw a 40% likelihood of a quarter-point rate decrease.

Trump defend Obama? ‘I don’t think so!’

WASHINGTON ( ) – Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said on Saturday it was not his job to stand up for U.S. President Barack Obama after a man at one of his campaign events said he was a Muslim and “not even an American.”

“Am I morally obligated to defend the president every time somebody says something bad or controversial about him? I don’t think so!” Trump said on Twitter.

Trump drew criticism on Friday from Republican and Democratic rivals in the 2016 race for the presidency when he failed to challenge a man at a New Hampshire town hall Thursday night who said Muslims were a problem in the United States.

“We know our current president is one. You know he’s not even an American,” the man said.

Trump, the billionaire television personality who leads the pack of Republicans seeking the presidential nomination, has cast doubt on whether Obama was born in the United States and therefore qualified to stand as president.

“This is the first time in my life that I have caused controversy by NOT saying something,” Trump tweeted. “If someone made a nasty or controversial statement about me to the president, do you really think he would come to my rescue? No chance!”

Obama is a Christian who as president has attended church occasionally.

Later on Saturday, Trump read out the tweets to audience applause at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition Forum in Des Moines.

Trump rattled the Republican establishment with a summer surge to the top of the polls, overshadowing expected favorite Jeb Bush, the son and brother of two U.S. presidents. An unremarkable showing at Wednesday night’s Republican debate, where the frontrunner drew attacks from his many rivals, had some observers wondering if Trump frenzy is finally on the wane.

Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric, described as divisive even by members of his own party, has tapped into a vein of anger among like-minded supporters.

PARALLELS TO 2008

In August, two Boston brothers charged with urinating and beating a homeless Mexican man told police they were inspired by Trump. “Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported.” the said, according a police report.

On Monday, opponents and supporters clashed outside a rally for Trump. Protesters, many of them Hispanic, shouted “shame on you,” while some Trump fans retorted, “Keep them out!”

The tenor of the campaign has drawn parallels to the 2008 rallies by Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, that drew virulent anti-Obama rhetoric including shouts of “terrorist” or “traitor.”

McCain eventually had to confront the issue at an October campaign rally where a woman called Obama an Arab. He stopped her and called Obama a decent family man.

In Des Moines, Trump referred to the incident, saying “McCain just ripped that microphone from that woman’s hands… I thought it was a little harsh.”

David Axelrod, former White House adviser and Obama campaign strategist, said: “I think a lot of the people who are supporting Donald Trump are the same people who showed up at those Sarah Palin rallies at the end of the 2008 campaign.”

“We know that there is this cohort out there who believe that we are being encroached on by illegal aliens, Muslims, China and Trump has tapped into that constituency,” he said on CNN.

Far from trying to tamp down the controversy, Trump appeared to reach for more in his tweets Saturday, implying that Christians have suffered under Obama.

“Christians need support in our country (and around the world), the上海夜生活论坛ir religious liberty is at stake! Obama has been horrible, I will be great,” Trump said.

China’s Xi touts women’s rights at United Nations, U.S. critical

UNITED NATIONS ( ) – China’s President Xi Jinping told the United Nations on Sunday that all Chinese women have the opportunity to excel, touting his government’s record on women’s rights as the United States slammed Beijing and others for jailing women for their views.

China and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon co-hosted a U.N. meeting of world leaders on gender equality and women’s empowerment, raising eyebrows among some western diplomats and human rights defenders in China and abroad.

“As the Chinese people pursue a happy life, all Chinese women have the opportunity to excel in life and make their dreams come true,” Xi told the meeting on the sidelines of the annual gathering of world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly.

China was criticized internationally for detaining five women who were taken into custody on the weekend of March 8, International Women’s Day, after they planned to demonstrate against sexual harassment on public transport.

While the women were released a month later, they say their status as criminal suspects has stopped them from returning to activism and had a chilling effect on women’s rights groups.

“If you want to empower women, don’t imprison them on the basis of their views or beliefs,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power – a member of President Barack Obama’s cabinet – said in a statement.

Over the past couple of weeks, Power has highlighted 20 cases of women unjustly detained around the world for their beliefs or defense of the rights of others, including Chinese journalist Gao Yu, 71, who was jailed in April for seven years for providing state secrets to foreign contacts.

Xi’s administration has detained hundreds of rights activists in the past two years in what some rights groups say is the worst clampdown on dissent in the Communist-led country for two decades.

“In too many places – from China to Egypt, from Russia to Venezuela – women have been swept up in repressive crackdowns on civil society, and deprived of their universal rights and fundamental freedoms,” Obama said in a statement.

Obama’s former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a Democratic presidential candidate, also weighed in on Twitter: “Xi hosting a meeting on women’s rights at the U.N. while persecuting feminists?上海夜网 Shameless.”

Xi said China will do more to enhance gender equality as its “basic state policy” and called on developed countries to “scale up financial and technical assistance to developing countries.” He said China would donate $10 million to the U.N. gender equality body, UN Women, to “support women’s development worldwide.”

Chinese officials have said the country’s achievements on women’s issues are clear and that authorities handled the recent case of the five activists according to law.

Ahead of Sunday’s U.N. meeting the five women said in a letter: “We sincerely hope … President Xi can lead by example.”

China has also faced international criticism for effectively placing Liu Xia, the wife of jailed Chinese Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo, under house arrest since 2010.

Chamberlain disappointed in himself

The E上海夜生活论坛ngland international scored a goal as Liverpool won 5-0 against Swansea Cityon Tuesday, but he was not happy with his performance.

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admitted he felt really disappointed with the way he played regardless of the goal he scored against the Swans.

The former Arsenal player scored the last goal of the game in front of the KOP, but noted he expects more of himself and will not rest until he gets where he wants to be.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle of the game, Chamberlain stated: “We got the three points but personally I was quite disappointed with myself today.

“I’m happy I managed to get the goal in the end but I just tried to work hard through the 90 minutes and when the chance came at the end I was happy to put that away. It made it a bit better.Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers relishing Liverpool return Andrew Smyth – Brendan Rodgers is relishing Leicester City’s trip to his old club Liverpool, whom he described as a “privilege” to work for during his three-year stint.

“I just want more from myself and there were a few moments where I could have done better with my end product.”

The 24-year-old knows that good chances do not come often in the English top-flight and criticised his wastefulness, insisting he should have done better at certain situations.

“We train every day and when you get into certain situations you work hard to get into those positions and in this league they don’t come too often. There are a few times today when I could have done better.

“But 5-0 for the boys, I’m really happy with that. I just want to keep pushing myself.”

Tottenham made a mistake by selling Walker

Jamie Redknapp couldn’t understand Tottenham’s decision to sell Kyle Walker to Manchester City and he claims that it was “a huge mistake” which just showed that Tottenham is “still a small club”.

Spurs have been struggling this season so far as they are, basically said, out from the title race and Jamie Redknapp thinks that the decision not to raise Walker’s salary showed that Tottenham still has got a “small-club上海夜网 mentality”. He also warned the club that the other players might have similar thoughts as Walker and they will probably want to leave as well.

The former Spurs man spoke about the situation in his old club as he said, according to Sky Sports: “Letting Kyle Walker go in the summer looks like a huge mistake. I thought it was good business at the time but now what it’s has done is set a precedent in the dressing room. He continued by adding that there could be a problem with the other players: “Toby Alderweireld is one of the best centre-backs in the world – why has he not signed? Go and give him whatever he deserves. Tottenham have got players anyone in the world would want, but things can quickly slip through your fingers. Once one leaves, then another one. It gives every player an out. They’ve still got a small club mentality there. It’s not changed since I was there.”

Jamie Redknapp, in the end, claimed that he understands that thinking: “These players are well aware of what the going rate is. It’s about going into the England dressing room and seeing a player that plays in your position, knowing he’s getting two or three times what you’re getting a week. It shouldn’t be like that.”

Conte is too clever to take the AC Milan job

The former Inter chairman, Massimo Moratti, is certain that Antonio Conte won’t be a new coach of AC Milan as he is “too smart” to take this job and he will more likely remain at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte has mentioned several times before that he would like to return to Italy at some point in his career but Moratti thinks that AC Milan won’t be the right destination. The Rossoneri have been struggling so far and they are currently looking for a new coach as Genaro Gattuso is considered to be a mostly temporary replacement.

The ex-chairman of Inter spoke about this situation a上海夜生活网s he said, according to Goal: “He is a great manager, the only difference with [Luciano] Spalletti is that Spalletti has yet to win a Serie A title, Conte has already won league titles in Italy and in England. He also spoke about Inter’s current coach, Luciano Spaletti: “I’d never give him advice. I’ve explained to him the mentality of an interista fan, but he already knew it. I also wanted to hire him but I never managed to in the past. We were very close after the treble but he chose Zenit instead. He can read the players’ mind just like Mourinho. Players like Ranocchia, Santon and Brozovic are reborn.”

In the end, Marotti also mentioned the fact that Ivan Perisic decided to stay with Inter Milan and to refuse Manchester United: “He is so strong, he has strength and quality. I don’t see better wingers in Europe right now but he needs to have consistency. Spalletti was very important for him because he blocked his exit last summer.”

Mourinho in the stands for Austria – Serbia

Jose Mourinho was spotted in the stands of the Ernst Happel Stadion for the World Cup Qualifying match between Austria and Serbia.

The English press has speculated about the Portuguese manager’s presence in Austria and initially wrote that ‘The Special One‘ was there to watch one of Sergei Milinkovic-Savic, Andrija Zivkovic, David Alaba or Dusan Tadic.

But now it has been revealed by The Mirror that the real target of Mourinho was Mijat Gacinovic, the Serbian midfielder of Eintracht Frankfurt. Gacinovic signed for Eintracht Frankfurt two years ago, when the Germans paid €1,25m to FK Vojvodina Novi Sad. The new Iniesta

Gremio’s 21-year-old midfielder Arthur Melo has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, due to his vision and ability to pass the ball

21-year-old Arthur Melo’s talents in the middle of the pitch have earned him early comparisons with Barcelona icon Andres Iniesta and the youngster gained attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Melo is not famous for his goal scoring exploits or fancy tricks. Instead, his great strength lies in an uncanny ability to spot the right pass and execute plays perfectly, just like Iniesta or Mesut Ozil.

Furthermore, he also has similar physical attributes as the Barcelona idol does, and the 21-year-old is similarly capable of those startling bursts past defenders that the Spanish legend uses to shrug off the attentions of markers.

According to ESPN, Arthur is also learning how to become a more decisive presence in the opposition area.

“I’m a player who likes to have the ball at my feet, and organise play,” he explained to reporters.Ryan Giggs reflects on changing Daniel James Nedim Maric – Daniel James moved from Swansea to Manchester United in an unlikely transfer which raised many eyebrows.A jump from English second division to the senior…

The youngster admitted he and his coach are forcing the midfielder to somewhat transform into an attacking midfielder role, as he has the potential to be the main playmaker of a team.

“As a defensive midfielder I see more of the ball, further back. But as a playmaker Renato is forcing me to get into the area, reach the goal and try to score, as well as thread the ball through,” he said.

“I am also forcing myself to support the attackers and wingers. I think that is where the difference has come, I am trying to get into the area more to feed those up front.”

His potential was noticed by Premier League giants such as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City. Furthermore, the youngster has also been linked with Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Gremio, however, are unlikely to let Melo leave easily. The midfielder’s contract will only expire in January 2019, and the Brazilian side will reportedly not consider a bid lower than上海夜生活网 €10 million for the 21-year-old.

Ginola: Ronaldo still better than Kane

Former PSG midfielder David Ginola says Harry Kane can’t be compared to Cristiano Ronaldo yet

Two of the most fearsome strikers of the world are about to face each other again in Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur’s game at Wembley Stadium in the Champions League.

Tottenham superstar Harry Kane cannot be considered at the same level as Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, says David Ginola, GOAL reports.

A lot of speculations have been going around about Kane reaching the same level as the Portuguese, but former France midfielder Gionla says it’s too early to talk about Kane in such heights.

Ginola told talkSPORT: “You can’t compare Harry Kane to Ronaldo…yet.”

He thinks the two players are not even that similar, which makes it hard to draw comparisons.

“Even the qualities are not the same. Ronaldo is about pace – I’m not saying that Harry Kane is slow, but he’s not the same kind of player.”Ronaldo opens up about retirement plans Nedim Maric – Cristiano Ronaldo is still playing at a top-level even at 34 years of age.Juventus is looking to end the 23-year-old drought of not winning…

Kane’s team-mate, Jan Vertonghen spoke highly about the striker, saying he wouldn’t swap the English striker for anyone at the moment.

“Harry for me is one of the best No 9s in Europe, maybe the best. He shows that every week and I wouldn’t swap Harry for any player at the moment.”

However, there are some who disagree with Ginola’s statement. For exam上海夜生活网ple, Steffen Freund said the England striker is a natural “successor” to Ronaldo.

The ex-Spurs winger Ginola also said both players could do great under each team: “You could swap Harry Kane for Ronaldo, obviously, because Ronaldo will do some great stuff for Spurs and Harry Kane will do the same for Real Madrid.”

He said Ronaldo simply works really hard and sends the right message to upcoming prospects, inspiring them put in the work to succeed.

“But, on the other hand, Ronaldo has done so much for the game and he works so hard. All the credit to him because for the last five or six years, even more than that, since he played football, every year he is sending the right message to youngsters – if you want to stay at the top, you need to work really hard.”

Kane has outscored Ronaldo so far this season, with the Tottenham attacker having scored 13 times in just 12 matches, compared to Ronaldo’s 7 goals in 11 games.

Klopp doubts Southgate’s nomination

Gareth Southgate’s nomination for the national team is quite surprising and Jürgen Klopp thinks that the Englishman is making his own life difficult by not calling up some experienced players.

The German manager especially talked about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Daniel Sturridge – these two are not in the England squad and Klopp doesn’t agree with that decision. Southgate’s argument in relation to Sturridge on Thursday was that because he was not playing regularly he could not perform “at his very best” for the national team.

The former manager of Borussia Dortmund shared his thoughts as he said, according to ESPN: “It is not our decision but if Gareth Southgate saw the last few games I think for sure he could have invited all three of them. Gareth makes his decisions, I cannot change that. Both of them would play in other English Premier League teams quite regularly.”

He thinks that Southgate will be in a difficult situation with criteria like that: “If he makes it now like this it could be difficult in the future if he sticks to this plan 100 percent — not for us but maybe for England.”Wijnaldum looking to repeat Champions League success Nedim Maric – Liverpool 上海夜生活论坛are the reigning winners of the Champions League. Jürgen Klopp also spoke about Sturridge who is finally back from injury for good and he is able to perform at a high level: “Daniel had a few injury problems and was called up [in the past] because he is still the striker everyone thinks about. If he [Southgate] thinks he doesn’t need him I cannot change it.”

And the German coach thinks that Oxlade-Chamberlain has been doing well after his recent transfer: “Ox is coming in a new club and that always needs time to adapt. I think he made big steps since he was here. But, again I cannot call him and say, ‘Please, call him up.’”

Is Klopp right or is the Gareth Southgate’s choice the right one?

Gabriel Jesus: “I live for goals”

The striker has had no trouble finding the back of the net for both club and country in recent games as he warns there will be many more to come.

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has made a statement that he will not be contained as he ‘lives for goals’. The youngster had a run of four matches without scoring a goal, but this run is now over as he rediscovered his goal-scoring form with Brazil and Manchester City. The 20-year-old has 14 goals in 21 appearances for the Citizens, but insists he will get even better in the future.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News following yet another remarkable display for City against Stoke, Jesus stated: “I live for goals and just want to score as many as possible. “I learn a lot from Sergio [Aguero] every day, but not just him – I learn from all the team. We learn with each other – I pass on my knowledge to them, and they give theirs to me, so it’s an exchange.”

Manchester United holds Liverpool and remains unbeaten

Even though the Reds from Anfield dominated the game for the most part, the Red Devils clinched a 0-0 draw.

The game started as expected with Liverpool dominating and taking the initiative from early on. United were defending deep and playing on the counter-attack, but many were surprised to see Mourinho’s team letting Liverpool take complete control over the game. Despite being disciplined and well-positioned in the back, the Red Devils were lucky to not conceive a goal after a beautiful cross by Firmino who passed it to Matip, but the defender’s effort was brilliantly saved by David de Gea. The ball went straight to Salah, but the Egypt international shot the ball wide on the follow up, wasting the Reds’ best chance to score in the first half. United’s only good chance to score a goal during the first half came after a combination between Lukaku and Martial, which left the Red Devils No. 9 in a great position as he forced a great save by his fellow countryman Mignolet. In fact, this was the only shot on target by Mourinho’s side for the first half.

The second half was no different from the first one. Klopp’s men were trying their best to find a goal, while United were comfortable playing on the back. The home team struggled to create a good chance due to United’s organized defense. However, in the 57th minute Emre Can had a great opportunity to open the score after a chip ball from Gomez, but the midfielder sent the ball over the crossbar from only a few meters away from the goal. Liverpool kept pushing until the last minute, but Mourinho’s side managed to fend off their attempts, sealing a hard fought point an remaining on top of the table as of now.

Manchester City, who are playing later today, have the chance to become the leaders of the table as they take on Stoke City at home today.

Mbappé has now stated that he played an active role when it came to convincing Dembélé to take the offer.

Barcelona won the ICC in a 3-2 win over Real Madrid

The Catalans won the trophy in a spectacular El Clásico.

Valverde’s team came out as winner in his first El Clásico as Barcelona head coach. The game took place in Hard Rock Stadium and it served as ‘repetition’ for the upcoming El Clásicos in August for the Supercopa de España.

The last time the two clubs met in a friendly outside of Spain was in 1982, when Real Madrid won 1-0 in Venezuela.

The game was packed with action and could not have started better for Catalan fans. By the 7th minute mark, Barca were already leading 2-0. The first to score was Lionel Messi who dribbled past Modrić and tried his luck with a shot. The ball hit Varan and the lucky ricochet left Navas helpless as the ball hit the back of the net.

It was not long after before Barcelona made it 2-0. After a combination between Neymar and Suarez, the Uruguayan passed to Rakitić, who finished the attack with a powerful shot to increase the lead. The Catalans’ offensive playstyle was too much for Real Madrid’s defense, which seemed rat上海夜生活her unprepared for Barca’s push.

However, Zidane’s men took advantage of their first dangerous situation. Kovačić was given too much freedom in front of the box as he fired an accurate shot into the bottom left corner of the goal. Valverde’s men were still the more active side as they missed dozens of chances to end the game early. In the 36th minute, Asensio finished a fast counter-attack from Los Blancos as he had no trouble equalizing against Cillessen.Higuain happy to be reunited with Ronaldo at Juve George Patchias – Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo have been reunited at Juventus after playing at Real Madrid together six years ago, and Higuain is happy about…

At the start of the second half, Zidane substituted both Ramos and Varan with Fernández and Vallejo. Luka Modrić and Asensio also left the pitch for Isco and Vázquez. Barca’s only substitution was Sergi Roberto for Iniesta.

The change in Real’s defense caused confusion in their ranks, which could be seen in the 50th minute. After a free-kick ball from Neymar, Gerard Piqué was left completely unmarked and comfortably scored to make it 3-2 for Barca.

The rest of the game was packed with action in front of both goals, but none of them were successful.

Having played already for major teams, such as Manchester City and Villarreal, the Spaniard admits that he had to train hard, in order to find a path to the top.

“[It’s been] very complicated, when I left Celta Vigo for City it was to succeed in football and after two years in Manchester, I moved to Barcelona,” said the midfielder to MARCA.

“I was given two years in which I tried to win a first-team spot. It was only when I did well at Sevilla and Villarreal that they took me back to Barcelona. Now that I’m there, no one is going to push me out. I will fight to the death for many years of success in Barcelona.”

Hundreds rally at U.S. Supreme Court, calling state abortion bans as step backward

WASHINGTON ( ) – Abortion-rights campaigners, including Democrats seeking their party’s 2020 presidential nomination, rallied at the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday to protest new restrictions on abortion passed by Republican-dominated legislatures in eight states.

Many of the restrictions are intended to draw legal challenges, which religious conservatives hope will lead the nation’s top court to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that established a woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy.

“We are not going to allow them to move our country backward,” U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, one of the two dozen Democrats running for president, told the crowd through a megaphone.

Another candidate, Senator Cory Booker, urged the crowd to “wake up more men to join this fight.”

The rally is one of scores scheduled for Tuesday around the country by the American Civil Liberties Union, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Planned Parenthood Action Fund and other abortion rights group. The protests are a response to laws passed recently by Republican state legislatures that amount to the tightest restrictions on abortion in the United States in decades.

Alabama passed an outright ban last week, including for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest, unless the woman’s life is in danger. Other states, including Ohio and Georgia, have banned abortions absent a medical emergency after six weeks of pregnancy or after the fetus’s heartbeat can be detected, which can occur before a woman even realizes she is pregnant.

Protesters outside the Supreme Court waved signs saying “We won’t be punished” and “Protect Safe, Legal Abortion” and were joined by Pete Buttigieg, the South Bend, Indiana, mayor who also is vying for the 2020 nomination.

“My entire campaign is about freedom,” he said in a brief interview.

U.S. President Donald Trump, a Republican who opposes abortion, has seized on the issue as one likely to fire up his core supporters, although he considers the Alabama ban上海夜网 too restrictive because it does not make exceptions for incest and rape.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, another Democratic 2020 candidate, blamed what she called “outrageous bans” on Trump.

“This is the beginning of President Trump’s war on women,” she told the rally. “If he wants his war, he will have his war, and he will lose.”

The restrictive new laws are contrary to the Roe v. Wade ruling, which affords a woman the right to an abortion up to the moment the fetus would be viable outside the womb, which is usually placed at about seven months, or 28 weeks, but may occur earlier.

The bans have been championed by conservatives, many of them Christian, who say fetuses should have rights comparable to those of infants and view abortion as tantamount to murder. The Supreme Court now has a 5-4 conservative majority following two judicial appointments by Trump.

“This is probably one of the first times I’ve ever felt like it’s real that things could actually be overturned,” Tracy Leaman, 43, an event planner from the Washington area, said at Tuesday’s rally. “The Supreme Court is stacked against us for the first time in my lifetime. I feel like it’s scarier than ever before.”

A federal judge in Mississippi on Tuesday heard arguments in a lawsuit challenging the state’s new fetal-heartbeart abortion law. District Judge Carlton Reeves asked questions suggesting he thought the new law to be even more unconstitutional than the state’s 15-week abortion ban he struck down last year, USA Today reported.

Reliance shares see biggest intraday gain in a decade; rivals hit by disruption fears

BENGALURU ( ) – Reliance Industries (RELI.NS) shares saw their biggest intraday rise in more than a decade on Tuesday, after the company set a target to reach zero net debt in 18 months and vowed to reward shareholders with higher dividends and periodic bonus issues.

Reliance led by Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, said on Monday Saudi Aramco was to invest roughly $15 billion for a 20% stake in its oil-to-chemicals business, while also detailing plans to launch cut-price home internet services across India next month.

The announcements drove Reliance shares up as much as 12% — its biggest such move since Jan. 14, 2009. The spike has put the company within touching distance of becoming the highest-valued Indian company again. Currently, it trails Tata Consultancy Services (TCS.NS) by slightly more than $1 billion.

Its plans to launch JioFiber broadband services threaten to upend India’s telecom market with offers of free voice calls for life, television and movie streaming and even free TV sets to go with some subscription plans.

Analysts at Kotak Institutional Securities said Reliance “hit all the right chords” with its announcements and upgraded the stock to “Buy” from “Sell.”

Shares of telecom majors Bharti Airtel (BRTI.NS) fell almost 7% before recouping some losses, while Vodafone Idea (VODA.NS) slid as much as 10% as the announcements spurred worries of a repeat of what happened just three years ago when Reliance’s telecom upstart, Jio, burst onto the scene.

Reliance said customers of its Premium JioFiber services will be able to watch movies in their living rooms the same day these movies release in theaters.

It wasn’t immediately clear how Reliance would offer this and multiplex owner Inox INOX.NS said in a release “producers, distributors and multiplex owners in India have mutually agreed to an exclusive theatrical window of 8 weeks, between theatrical release of a movie and release on any other platform.”
