The sophomore left the game in the fourth quarter after his right ankle was rolled up on by an offensive lineman. Tagovailoa had to be helped off the field by Alabama trainers. He finished the game with an uncharacteristically bad stat line of 10-of-25 passing for 164 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. He was repeatedly harassed by Georgia's pass rush and seemed hesitant in his decision-making both running and passing. • Oklahoma vs. West Virginia score: No. 6 Sooners survive wild shootout to set up rematch with Texas

It hasn't been easy in several weeks for No. 6 Oklahoma, but the Sooners always seem to find a way. With a Big 12 Championship Game berth on the line, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray found receiver CeeDee Lamb for a critical first down on fourth-and-5 to help secure a 59-56 win over No. 13 West Virginia. The win puts the Sooners in a rematch with Texas in Arlington next Saturday. And while Oklahoma probably doesn't control its Playoff destiny, it's smentators. The Brazilian, full name Frederico Rodrigues De Paula Santos, is simply known as "Fred" on these shores. But in a video shared to Man Utd's official Twitter account, the midfielder, 26, has revealed the real pronunciation of his name.In a still very much in the hunt and could slide into that No. 4 spot if a couple of games fall the right way. In particular: Michigan-Ohio State and Notre Dame-USC on Saturday will be of immediate interest.

It's also a tough loss for the Mountaineers, who felt this year was their best chance to make the Big 12 title game with the return of quarterback Will Grier, who did indeed put up huge numbers vs. the hapless Sooners defense with 539 yards and four touchdowns.

This was the high-scoring affair that everyone figured it would be. With this game in the books, here's what we learned ...

The Big 12 gets an unfair knock -- sometimes -- that it doesn't play defense. This isn't always the case, and sometimes the offenses are just that good. This is the case when Oklahoma does things like hang 48 points on Georgia in the Rose Bowl. However, the defenses in this game? Horrible. There was little redeemable about the combined 1,372 yards of offense and more than 100 points. This was not a matter of quarterback making throws into tight windows, although there was great quarterback play. This was straight-up bad tackling, bad angles ... bad everything. It was most definitely not a comparison to the Chiefs-Rams game from Monday Night Football this past week. Yes, this game was fun, but it was also painfully predictable.

Let's be quite clear in saying that Oklahoma's defense is ghastly. That has not changed since defensive coordinator Mike Stoops was fired midseason, and it won't change anytime soon (this season or maybe even next). . That's a whole separate issue. But, my oh my, did Oklahoma get some key plays from that defense when it absolutely needed it in the form of two strip sacks that resulted in scoop-and-scores.

The first came in the second quarter when linebacker Caleb Kelly on West Virginia's offensive tackle, sacked Grier and picked the ball up for a 10-yard score. It was a perfect combination of physical play at the line, closing speed to get the sack and awareness to get the ball into the end zone. The second scoop-and-score came in the fourth quarter when Curtis Bolton returned a Grier fumble 48 yards for the touchdown to put the Soer bid for Christian Eriksen and the midfielder will play against Watford on Saturday, says manager Jose Mourinho."You have to ask the agent and Inter because they know more than me," said Mourinho on Friday."If they are confident it is because they oners up 59-49. In each of the two instances, Oklahoma was able to extend its lead by two scores. The Mountaineers always found a way to battle back, but in a close, even game like this, those two non-offensive touchdowns made a difference.

Oklahoma still gave up 704 yards at nearly 8 yards per play. They didn't cover well downfield, at least consistently, and were gashed in the running game. That will be a problem for the remainder of the season -- but when Oklahoma absolutely needed a play, it got two.

This was a theme in the Mountaineers' loss to Oklahoma State a week ago, and it came up again Friday evening. West Virginia's first empty possession came in the red zone in the second quarter when the offense couldn't score on a fourth-and-6. Another empty possession came one drive later when, off of a Kyler Murray fumble, the 'Eers promptly went three-and-out and Oklahoma scored two plays later to gain a 21-14 advantage.

West Virginia was much better in the second half at making the most of its possessions, but the one exception will haunt it for a long time. When it appeared running back Kennedy McKoy had broken off a long run to put the offense inside the 5-yard line, a personal foul penalty on receiver T.J. Simmons brought the run back. In short, Simmons blocked an Oklahoma defender way out of bounds on the play. Normally, getting your lunch eaten that badly is almost never going to result in a penalty in your favor, but Oklahoma was saved from a possible Mountaineer touchdown. The second of OU's two strip sacks on the night came three plays later.

As a general rule, blaming officiating for the outcome of a game is weak sauce. They're not perfect, but they're doing their best; and for the record, penalties were even (Oklahoma had six for 60 yards and West Virginia had five for 60 yards). But that's going to be one West Virginia will wonder why it was called. In any case, West Virginia could still have scored on that drive, but Oklahoma's defense changed the course of the game.

If there's anything that can make West Virginia feel even a little bit better about coming out on the short end of this game, it's that Grier may have punched his ticket to New York for the Heisman ceremony. He won't win, of course. That will either be Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa or Murray. But there are three spots on a Heisman ballot, and voters can be creatures of the moment. Grier's 539 yards and four touchdowns far surpass the numbers from Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew, who, in an Apple Cup loss to Washington amid a blizzard, mustered 152 yards through the air at 4.2 yards per attempt with two interceptions.

Poor weather isn't Minshew's fault (and Washington's defense is legit), and yes, voters should look at the entire scope of the season bg apologised for almost denying him an FA Cup final goal. The 38th-minute strike was initially awarded to Sterling, who smashed it into the net. But replays eventually confirmed after the match that the Gabriel effort had already crossed the line.Thatefore filling their ballots. However, even in a loss, Grier had a big game on a national stage. He played well enough for voters to split that No. 3 slot. That should get him at least to the finalist's ceremony.

  • BYU vs. Western Michigan Potato Bowl score: Perfect outing from QB Zach Wilson leads Cougars to win

A few years from now (hell, maybe a few weeks), you probably won't remember much about the 2018 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, but I guarantee you will remember it for the rest of his life. The quarterback had the performance of a lifetime, leading the Cougars to a 49-18 win over .

Wilson finished the game completing every pass he attempted. He threw 18 passes ... and he completed 18 passes. And this wasn't one e this summer, it has been claimed. The Mirror says Arsenal face a battle to keep Man Utd from poaching their own player, as the Red Devils weigh up a bid for Aubameyang. The former Dortmund striker has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with theof those cases where a QB throws all of his passes at the line of scrimmage, either. Wilson's 18 throws picked up 317 yards, good for 17.6 yards per attempt. He threw four touchdowns, including a 26-yard scoring toss as well as intentions of returning to Old Trafford. On a straight loan for the season with the Giallorossi, Smalling is playing some of the best football of his career.Il Tempo says the England international is so happy with his lot in Italy that he has informea 70-yarder.

Wilson could do no wrong. He set a school record for consecutive completions in a single game with his 18 completions, passing the previous mark of 14 set by Steve Sarkisian in 1995 and Steve Young in 1982. The 18 consecutive completions came one short of tying the bowl record set by Mike Bobo at when he completed 19 straight passes in the 1998 Outback Bowl. So it's pretty obvious that when he leaves BYU, Wilson will either go on to be a Hall of Fame QB in the , or he'll be a college head coach someday. There's no in between.

Of course, while we're on the subjectter Milan defeat AC Milan in Sunday's derby.Inter great Zamorano believes the fans are loving the work of coach Antonio Conte. He said, “We all had a negative feeling at the end of the first half, we could have been even more than two goals behind. of Wilson leaving BYU, that's the other part of this remarkable story. Wilson is only a freshman, so he won't be leaving Provo any time soon. Wilson took over the starting job at QB against in mid-October and has held on to the reins since. He finishes the season having thrown for 1,578 yards and 12 touchdowns in seven starts. While BYU finishes this 2018 season at 7-6, Wilson's performance during the season, and especially in the bowl game, should give Cougar fans plenty of reasons to be optimistic about this BYU team in 2019.

After all, it'll be at least another nine months before Wilson throws his next incomplete pass.

Notre Dame may very well be playing its way into one of the coveted College Football Playoff slots this season after racing out to a 6-0 record to start 2018. A road win at Virg. The Daily Mail says with potentially no Champions League football until 2022, City must act to ensure their best players are not tempted away. And the club will open new-contract talks with De Bruyne and Sterling following the home leg of their Champinia Tech may have also been the last "true road test" standing in its way, but don't sleep on games like this Saturday against Pittsburgh.

The Fighting Irish and Pitt Panthers first played back in 1909. I didn't see the game myself but judging by the 6-0 final score, it was a thrilling contest. Saturday's game between the two will be their 70th meeting, and it should feature more than six points.

The two played at Heinz Field last season with Notre Dame winning a 42-30 shootout. Notre Dame has won four of the previous five meetings and leads the all-time series 47-21-1.

    Game prediction, picks

I don't think Pitt has a great chance of winning this game, as the 20.5-point spread suggests. Still, this feels like a classic letdown spot for the Irish after picking up another big win last week. Notre Dame will win this game, but Pitt will cover.

As one might expect at 4-4, things have quickly unraveled for . Following a Week 9 loss to , coach Clay Helton . This included stripping offensive coordinator Tee Martin o Europa League semifinal win at Valencia. The 30-year-old shushed the Los Ches supporters as he was replaced by Henrikh Mkhitaryan - and was brandished a yellow card for time-wasting as he trotted off.And with the former Real Madrid maestro booed by tf his play-calling duties -- Helton will call the plays moving forward -- and firing offensive line coach Neil Callaway.

Midseason coaching changes in any capacity can be a mixed bag for results, but the immediate question is whether Helton and Martin are really on the same page. Martin's Twitter account has while Helton called his conversation with his OC "."

Regardless of whatever internal turmoil the Trojans are navigating through, however, athletic director Lynn Swann is putting on a good face publicly. On Tuesday evening, Swann gave Helton a vote of confidence.

"I believe in him," Swann said during a segment on Trojans Live. "I like the position that he takes. He is passionate about what he does. He is honest and real in what he wants to accomplish and how he wants to accomplish it. There is no false chatter."

Swann also said he supported the changes Helton made to the staff. "He told me the changes he wanted to make. I agreed with the changes he wanted to make, and we go from there," Swann said.

In Helton's defense, USC has been decimated by injuries. In the past, he's led 10-win efforts in his first two full seasons as the Trojans head coach, guiding his teams to the Rose Bowlttle the PSG locker room.Last week, Pique volunteered the information that Barca's players went to the board about taking group pay-cuts in order to help bring Neymar back from PSG last summer. However, Brazilian reporter Isabela Pagliari beliff. The game was meant to kick off in Turin on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT, but the decision to cancel was made with just 24 hours to spare.Milan had already travelled to their hotel by bus, remained for a couple of hours and then went back home.It was deceves the and Cotton Bowl, respectively. However, Helton looks like he has a ceiling, and that ceiling may not be good enough to keep things insular, as USC is oft to do. • College football bowl projections: Lack of upsets leads to status quo except for West Virginia

There were several big games this weekend that impacted the College Football Playoff, New Year's Six games and conference title races, but the general lack of upsets means that there is only one change to the New Year's Six roster. West Virginia's dramatic win at Texas, combined with Utah's loss to Arizona State, means that the Mountaineers have replaced the Utes in a New Year's Six game. Specifically, West Virginia is projected to play in the Peach Bowl against Kentucky.  Washington State moves over to the Rose Bowl, replacing Utah.

With all the talk of the importance of the 13th game, we may see some of those games either hold little importance at all, or conversely, run the risk of teams with relatively poor records geenal. The Scot has been in the dugout for three games, with a win over Chelsea and draw with Manchester United. He will be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, who has secured a release from his contract with Napoli.Sky Sports says Ancelotti will be in the statting into the big bowl games.

In the ACC, where Clemson in running roughshod over everyone, the Coastal is led by Pittsburgh.  The Panthers have a one-game lead over Virginia and Virginia Tech.  They just beat the Cavaliers on Friday night and host the Hokies this Saturday.  However, Pitt already has four total losses because it lost three nonconference games.  No team in the dcharge of Arsenal's U23s this season.Bould kicked off things leading a young Gunners XI to a 3-3 draw at Boreham Wood on Saturday. He told arsenal.com: "I'm really enjoying being back out on the grass and coaching, so I'm really happy."Some of the ladivision has fewer than three overall losses, which means the best Clemson can hope for is to get a 9-3 opponent in the ACC title game.

The same thing is going on in the Big Ten West, where leader Northwestern's loss to Notre Dame on Saturday means the Wildcats went 0-aldo has seen a sexual assault lawsuit dropped.Ronaldo has denied the allegations made by Kathryn Mayorga that she was raped by the Juventus star in a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.Las Vegas police reopened their case last year at the request of Ms Mayorga3 in nonconference play, all at home.  The Cats hold a one-game lead and the tiebreakers over Wisconsin and Purdue.  They can win the division even with a loss at Iowa this week if they beat Minnesota and Illinois to finish the regular season.  They could go to the Big Ten title game with a 7-5 record.

Arizona State beating Utah helped create a four-way tie of teams with three conference losses in the Pac-12 South.  The Sun Devils will win the division if they win out, which would require beating UCLA at home and winning at Oregon and Arizona.  Washington State, which needs all the strength of schedule help it can get, won't get it regardless.  Utah is the only team that can enter the Pac-12 title game with a record as good as 9-3.

Everything is normal in the SEC though, where Alabama and Georgia clinched spots in the SEC title game with a month to go.

Buckle up.  It's November, when strange stuff happens in .

Not long ago, I was expecting to need six teams with 5-7 records to fill the bowls.  Now, I am now projecting all 78 bowl slots to be filled with teams that are 6-6 or better and have two teams to spare.  The teams that I am projecting to be bowl eligible, but left out, are Coastal Carolina and Wyoming. There are currently 48 bowl-eligible teams.

  • Alabama vs. Texas A&M: Prediction, pick, odds, line, TV channel, live stream, watch online

The SEC on CBS invades Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Saturday as No. 1  and Texas A&M square off in a huge SEC West matchup that will have vast implications over the remainder of the season. It will be the first time that Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher have met as SEC foes and only the second meeting ever between the two former co-workers (Fisher was Saban's offensive coordinator at LSU).

Saban, who has never lost to a former assistant coach, is up 1-0 after Alabama's 24-7 win against in last year's season opener. Fisher is coming off a big showing for his Aggies two weeks ago against Clemson; though Texas A&M ultimately lost that game, the team showed way more fight than many ear Neymar admits he was happy his former Barcelona teammates wanted him to return.Neymar Senior, the PSG forward's father has spoken about those relationships with the leaders of the Blaugrana dressing room."A Brazilian only wants to be where he can xpected to see from TAMU in Fisher's first year.      Can the Aggies bring that same energy on the road in Tuscaloosa? Texas A&M did a fantastic job of playing right down to the final moments in College Station, and now they face another playoff favorite just two weeks later with the increased difficulty of A) it being Alabama and B) no longer being in the friendly confines of Kyle Field with the 12th Man. One thing is for sure: Texas A&M will have to create explosive plays on offense to keep pace with the Tide and luckily from what we've seen,  is up to the task.

This is the toughest hi has hailed the impact made by coach Antonio Conte. He says Conte is bringing back a "winning mentality" through the club.Biraghi said, “Conte has been superb at bringing his winning mentality into the group. "We follow him in everything because wopponent Alabama has faced all year, and it still remains a favorite of more than three touchdowns. Can the Tide avoid a letdown performance? It feels like the kind of game that might see Alabama spin its wheels for a quarter or two and ultimately win by 14 with Saban furious about all the errors. But what if the offense goes and puts up 50 again? The first three weeks have hinted that we're dealing with offensive dominance that has no equal in the Saban era, but Texas A&M is one of a handful of opponents on the schedule with the horses to really put that group to the test.

    Game prediction, picks

Alabama isn't just covering the spread here in the early season, it's obliterating the limits to which bookmakers feel comfortable setting these lines. The Tide are 3-0 against the number and not a single game has been a sweat, covering by 13 points, 13 points and 32.5 points (vs. Ole Miss). At under four touchdowns this might be a spot where the market, still awaiting that letdown game, hasn't caught up to the Tua train.

  • LOOK: Virginia Tech’s 2016 troll tweet about Old Dominion has come back to haunt them

  • College football’s greatest teams: The best season from every Pac-12 program

The Pac-12 prides itself on being a conference of champions. You don't have to look far into the Pac-12's history to find some of the best college football teams to have ever taken the field.

The first team that comes to mind is USC and its dynasty under coach Pete Carroll during the mid-2000s. But, of course, USC's history has a number of championship-winning teams. Choosing one is no easy task. Then there's Washington, whose 1991 team is one of the best the conference has ever produced. But every school in the Pac-12 has fielded at least one great team. Our job was to figure out which one it was.

Which teams are the best of the best? Our top team for every Pac-12 program is below.

It was a tight race between the 1993 Wildcats and the 1998 team. Those were the two best seasons in program history, and they brought their own flavor to the discussion. The latter team was more offensive-minded at 33.8 points per game. However, the 1993 team was a force along the defensive front and led by future Hall of Famers in Rob Waldrop and Tedy Bruschi. also won a share of the Pac-10 -- the school's first conference title in football in 20 years -- in 1993 and toasted Miami 29-0 in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Wildcats allowed a mere 30.1 yards per game on the ground and its top six tacklers went on to play in the , resulting in the "Desert Swarm" nickname.

The 1996 season was the closest Arizona State has come to claiming a national title in the modern era. And goodness, were the Sun Devils good that year. The season started on a high note with a statement 19-0 win over No. 1 and defending national champs Nebraska. That propelled Arizona State into the AP top 10, where they climbed to No. 2 by season's end. However, a 20-17 loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl kept the Sun Devils from finishing with a perfect record.

"We are relaxed and Erling is relaxedThey weren't blessed with numerous All-Americans and the 10-win season probably won't go down as anything in history other than "pretty good." But one look at the players on that team and you realize it's a team that passes the eyeball test. Aaron Rodgers? Marshawn Lynch? Anyone would take a team with those two -- and Lynch wasn't even the starter that season.

Rashaan Salaam's Heisman Trophy-winning season in 1994 is memorable, but the Buffaloes' only claimed national championship came in 1990. Led by running back Eric Bieniemy, who finished third in the Heisman voting that season, the Buffaloes scored nearly 31 points per game through one of the toughest schedules in the country. After a Week 1 tie vs. No. 8 Tennessee and a 1-point loss at No. 21 Illinois. the Buffs ripped off five wins vs. ranked opponents, including the national championship over No. 5 Notre Dame. Several of the players on the 1990 team either earned All-American accolades in 1989 or went on to contribute and be drafted following the 1994 season.

The Buffs'  adds lore to the '94 season, but there's only one "Fifth Down" debacle: vs. Missouri in 1990.

There's a legitimate case to be made for the 2012 Ducks even though they didn't win the Pac-12 North. One could argue, had not lost to Stanford in overtime, that season was theoretically the school's best shot at winning a national championship. But the 2010 team actually got to the BCS Championship Game and came this close (and one Michael Dyer barrel roll) from beating Auburn and quarterback Cam Newton, the most dominant player in the country. The Ducks were dominant in their own right, too, with the No. 1 offense in the country and reaching No. 1 in the AP poll for the first time in history in October.

: 12-1 (9-0 Pac-10) |  No. 3: Chip Kelly |  RB LaMichael James Pac-10 Doak Walker Award (James), Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year (Kelly), Walter Camp Coach of the Year (Kelly), AP Coach of the Year (Kelly), two consensus All-Americans: (James, Cliff Harris) 11 As great as Kelly was in engineering high-scoring offenses, the 2010 team was the only one he coached that finished No. 1 in the country in points per game. The Ducks also finished No. 1 in total offense that season.

It may have only been a share of a Pac-10 title, but the 2000 Beavers grabbed their first championship since 1964. And while this team didn't feature award winners or consensus All-Americans, it did have a roster with receivers Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh, defensive lineman Dwan Edwards and linebacker Nick Barnett. There were some solid future pros on the sideline that year. Plus, the 2000 team's 11 wins still stands as the most for a single season in program history. At a place that's experienced its share of rough times, the 2000 team stands alone as the best.

: 11-1 (7-1 Pac-10) |  No. 4: Dennis Erickson |  RB Ken Simonton: Pac-10 (co-champions)  n/a 10  biggest "what if?" game came in a 33-30 loss to Washington in 2000. In the fifth game of the year, Washington had greater name recognition than the Beavers, but by the season's end, no one in the country wanted anything to do with Oregon State. However, a missed 45-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining gave the Huskies the narrow win. It ultimately became the difference between the Fiesta Bowl, which Oregon State won 41-9 over No. 10 Notre Dame, and the national championship.

You could go with one of Stanford's national championship seasons from way in the past, but the 2010 team probably would have gone undefeated if Oregon wasn't the bane of their existence -- which, what do you know, the 2010 Ducks are featured on here, too. When coach Jim Harbaugh took over Stanford following the 2006 season, the Cardinal were a mess. By Year 4, though, Stanford was a machine with future pros littered all over the starting 22 (Richard Sherman, Zach Ertz, Doug Baldwin and Andrew Luck, among others). What Harbaugh built came to fruition in 2010 and set the standard for years to follow.

: 12-1 (8-1 Pac-10) |  No. 4 Jim Harbaugh |  QB Andrew Luck n/a Paul Hornung Award (Owen Marecic), consensus All-American: (Chase Beeler) 17 How bad were things at Stanford before Harbaugh's arrival? Only three players were drafted into the NFL during Harbaugh's first three seasons -- all in 2010. In the three years ollowing the 2010 season, 11 players were taken. Since the 2010 season, 35 Cardinal players have been drafted.

The 1954 Bruins were a juggernaut on both sides of the ball, averaging nearly 41 points per game with a single-wing offense and 4.4 points allowed per game. The No. 1 defense in the country shut out five opponents that season, irs wants the Arsenal job. When asked about the Arsenal hotseat on Sunday, Rodgers appeared to confirm he had a release clause in his contract with Leicester, who he has led to second in the Premier League table. And Adam has interpreted that as confirmncluding No. 7 USC, and allowed just one touchdown to defending national champs Maryland. To this day, the 1954 team is the only one to go undefeated.

: 9-0 (6-0 PCC) |  No. 2 Red Sanders |  OL Jack Ellena National (Coaches), PCC AFCA Coach of the Year (Sanders), consensus All-American: (Ellena) 6 Despite winning the PCC and finishing undefeated, the Bruins were ineligible to play in the Rose Bowl because of a no-repeat rule. Instead, the Rose Bowl chose USC, which lost to Ohio State 20-7.

There's no getting around it. USC's 2005 team is presented with a caveat: It didn't beat Texas in the BCS Championship Game. And so many other great USC teams have national championships (2004, for instance). But let's table that for a minute and talk about what the Trojans were that season. They were riding a 34-game winning streak. They were up their eyeballs with NFL-caliber talent, two Heisman winners (RB Reggie Bush and QB Matt Leinart), and multiple All-Americans. They were, up until the Rose Bowl, the wire-to-wire No. 1 team in the country. They were a dynasty.

And look, USC was supposed to beat Texas on paper. It was supposed to cap off one of the greatest runs this sport has ever seen. It took the best game possible from Longhorns quarterback Vince Young and a key fourth-down stop by the UT defense to rewrite the script. Someone else had to be that much better, even if just for a night, to spoil USC's season. That's how great the 2005 Trojans were and that's why they were picked, even if it's bittersweet.

: 12-1 (8-0 Pac-10) |  No. 2 Pete Carroll |  RB Reggie Bush Pac-10 Heisman Trophy (Bush), Doak Walker Award (Bush), Walter Camp Award (Bush), Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (Leinart), three consensus All-Americans: (Bush, Dwayne Jarrett, Taitusi Lutui) 35 The 2006 Rose Bowl featured an absurd amount of NFL talent. Between USC and Texas, the field that night featured 14 first-round NFL draft picks and 62 players who would appear in at least one NFL game.

Utah's undefeated team marked its first major bowl victory (35-7 over No. 19 Pitt), but the 2008 Utes can say they beat Nick Saban's Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Led by quarterback Brian Johnson, the Utes started the season with a 25-23 win at Michigan and capped it with two monster wins at the end of the year vs. No. 12 TCU and No. 14 BYU. Though the Utes were not ranked at the start of the season, they climbed all the way up to No. 7 and finished as the only unbeaten team after the bowl season.

: 13-0 (8-0 MWC) |  No. 2 Kyle Whittingham |  QB Brian Johnson Mountain West AFCA Coach of the Year (Whittingham), Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year (Whittingham), consensus All-Americans: (Louie Sakoda): 12 The Sugar Bowl win over Alabama wasn't just a big way to cap off the season. It marked the 14th straight win for the program, which was the longest active streak in college football at the time.

Miami might have won the AP's national title in 1991, but the Huskies were the better team. If nothing else, Don James' squad was in the entire country. Washington notched three wins against highly ranked teams (Nebraska, Cal and Michigan) and blew through one of the toughest schedules in the country. In fact, the 1991 Huskies have an argument as one of the great all-time Pac-10/12 teams given how they outclassed opponents on a weekly basis.

Among them was former CBS Sports analyst and ESPN color commentator Ed Cunningham, who played offensive line for the Huskies.

Washington State wasn't on national radars when the 1997 season started, but following a win at No. 23 USC in September, the Cougars jumped into the top 25 and never looked back. Wazzu went 10-1 during the regular season and secured a share of the Pac-10 championship -- the first for the program since 1930. Quarterback Ryan Leaf finished third in the Heisman voting and the Cougars came oh-so-close to pulling off a final-second comeback against Michigan in the Rose Bowl. However, time ran out on Leaf (or did it?) as he attempted to spike the ball with two seconds remaining.

  • After two seasons, Miami gives coach Mark Richt a contract extension through 2023

In its second year under coach Mark Richt, Miami came out of nowhere to earn the ACC Coastal title and a berth in the ACC Championship Game for the first time. It also played in thesenal.Saints twice led in the capital, with Danny Ings netting inside the opening ten minutes before Alexandre Lacazette's equaliser before the break.Creating the better chances – and guilty of not adding more to their tally – the visitors finall Orange Bowl for the first time since 2014.

What's Richt's reward following that stellar 2017 campaign? A contract extension, of course.

The Hurricanes announced Thursday that Richt, who holds a 19-7 in his first two years at the helm, has seen his contract extended through the 2023 season.

"We're excited about where this program is headed," Richt said in a statement. • Report details more accusations against Michigan State in wake of Larry Nassar case

After former athletic physician Larry Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison earlier this week for sexual abuse in the USA gymnastics scandal, athletic director on Friday morning and the fallout from a growing scandal has moved directly into the Spartans football and basketball programs.

Now we know a little more about what led to Hollis' decision.

According to a , a culture of sexual and physical assault existed inside the football and men's basketball program that had not been previously reported. Included in that culture was an effort by the school in court on three separate occasions to withhold names of athletes on public police records within the campus police department, and the redaction of information on public records to a point where the records became useless.

Included in the report are six previously unreported incidents involving the football team. At least 16 Spartan football players have been accused of rape or physical violence since coach Mark Dantonio took over prior to the 2007 season.

In 2010, a woman claimed to campus police that she was raped by two football players in 2009 after a fraternity party. She did not press charges.

In 2013, a student reported an incident with campus judicial services about an incident involving a freshman football player in which she did not consent to sexual intercourse while intoxicated. She did not pursue charges.

In May 2014, the parents of a deceased former student filed a report to campus police detailing a 2007 gang rape involving four football players. Details of the incideoberto Mancini was delighted with his players for their 9-1 rout of Armenia. It marked their final game of Euros qualifying and a 100 per cent record for the campaign."It was a lovely evening, the last game in qualifying and we did it well. You don't nt were included in the victim's journal, but charges were not brought because the claims could not be verified.

In 2009, a defensive lineman was accused of fighting with his girlfriend. In the report filed with campus police, she claimed the defensive lineman kicked her in the torso, and punched her in the collarbone and under her left eye. She declined to press charges.

Also in 2009, an offensive lineman and his girlfriend got into a dispute in which he admitted to dragging her out of the car and she admitted to vandalizing his property. Both declined to pursue charges.

In 2013, a woman claimed a freshman running back threw her up against a wall after she asked him to say "please" after he requested she take her feet off of a chair in a dorm room. She didn't press charges after receiving an apology in the presence of police.

The report from Outside The Lines quotes former Michigan State sexual assault counselor Lauren Allswede throughout. She alleges that an attorney from the school told her that Dantonio had dealt with a player who had been accused of sexual assault in the past, and "had the player talk to his mother about what he had done."

The complaints against Tom Izzo's basketball program include the coaching staff. Travis Walton, a former player and, at the time, a student-assistant coach for the Spartans, was allowed to stay on staff after being charged in an incident in which he punched a woman at a local bar. The charge was reduced to littering.

Walton would later be named in an allegation of sexual assault of another student. According to the report, that incident was handled by the athletic department internally.

Also included in the report is a more detailed account of an alleged incident involving, at the time, basketball recruits Adreian Payne and Keith Appling. Carolyn Schaner accused them of raping her in a campus dorm after meeting them at orientation. Neither was suspended.

The incidents in the feature from Outside The Lines will bring even more scrutiny to Michigan State, and specifically Dantonio and Izzo.

In virtually every reported accusation -- including the previously unreported incidents -- the campus police allegedly have actively shielded athletes from the public. What's more, theder-Arnold is the one young player every club in Europe would want in their team, according to former England and Tottenham defender Gary Stevens. It has certainly been a remarkable 18 months for Alexander-Arnold, a Scouser and lifelong Reds fan.Primare appeared to be a pattern of coaches and ahis career at the very top.The centre-back, 30, has featured sporadically over the past two seasons. But he is confident this is not the twilight of his career."I'm patient. I'm working behind closed doors a lot and sometimes it is frustrating when yodministrators within the athletic department having as much, if not more, influence on individual punishment than the university itself and local authorities.

  • Baylor suspends two unnamed football players amid sexual assault allegations

Two football players have been suspended from the team stemming from allegations of sexual assault, coach Matt Rhule . The sanchester City are pushing to open new contract talks with Eric Garcia.Sport says Garcia is tied to City until 2022 and the defending Premier League champions are eager to extend and upgrade his terms.City have been attempting to agree terms for someuspensions come about a month after stated two unnamed players were being investigated for an alleged incident that took place in November at an off-campus apartment, which also involved female members of the university's equestrian team.

Rhule did not get into any specific detail about the suspensions or the allegations. However, he did maintain throughout his answer that the processes at Baylor in handling the allegations were done "the right way" -- clearly, a major sticking point for the university in the wake of its scandal involving sexual assault and abuse towards women.

"I can't geLeicester City defender Alex Pascanu to join Romanian team CFR Cluj for an undisclosed fee.The 20-year-old Romanian youth international was a member of Leicester City's Development Squad in recent seasons. He will now return to his native Romania to link up with his new team-mates for the 2019/20 campaign.Pascanu was Leicester's U23 Player of the Season for 2016/17.t into too many of the details on this specific incident. I really don't know too many of the details on this specific incident," Rhule said in a  with KCEN, "but I do know things have been handled the right way. And I do know that we're trying day in and day out to educate all the young men in our program about what you can and cannot do."

Per ESPN's , "two female Baylor students told police they were sexually assaulted at University Parks Apartments in Waco during the early-morning hours of Nov. 12, hours after the Bears lost to 38-24 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas." The two women then reported the incident to Baylor police on Nov. 17, per the report.

As of yet, no charges have been filed and the case has not been brought before a grand jury. University president Linda Livingstone released the following statement on Tuesday evening:

Baylor University takes any allegation of sexual assault seriously. The University's new leadership team is unwavering in our commitment to follow our well-documented Title IX policy and procedures in regards to reporting and responding to incidents of sexual assault. The responsibility of responding to alleged incidents of sexual violence does not rest solely in the hands of any specific individual or uia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho. The Mirror says their biggest competitor for Sancho's signature could be Paris Saint Germain.Borussia Dortmund are ready to sell, United are going all out to get him but PSG are also in the mix. There is a feeling at nit. It is a University response dictated by our Title IX policy. Baylor University remains committed to providing for the safety and security of our campus community.

In 2017, Baylor announced it had fully implemented 105 recommendations made by the law firm of Pepper Hamilton, who investigated the numerous assault allegations. The university had come under widespread criticism for the way it handled past allegations. The scandal eventually cost the jobs in some form or fashion of coach Art Briles, president Ken Starr and athletic director Ian McCaw.

Rhule was hired to lead Baylor's football team after Baylor asked former coach Jim Grobe to serve on a temporary basis in 2016. The Bears went 1-11 in Rhule's first season.

  • With spring practice over, Texas coach Tom Herman continues search for a clear QB1

AUSTIN, Texas -- Tom Herman points to a framed letter on a stand in his office. The purple ink on the page is familiar to anyone who knows the habits of the author.

"Ask any coach, they would tell you has been the most physical team in the Big 12 for years," Texas' coach said. "Theybeen happy playing under Pellegrini due to his attacking style."The manager is very good," he said. "I talk with him every day and he's a very good person and a very good coach and you can talk with him if you have some problems. This is good and for've won games on physicality and toughness and doing things the right way. From the guy who has kind of had that crown for years, to say your team played really, really hard meant a lot to me."

Bill Snyder and his classy letter-writing campaign had struck again.

The letter is a positive takeaway from Herman's first season with the Longhorns. The 2017 season wasn't the big turnaround many had hoped, but when you're above .500 (7-6) for the first time post-Mack Brown, that qualifies as progress.

Hence, the letter. Snyder basically praised Herman's team for playing hard in a 40-34 Longhorns win.

"I think we masked a lot of deficiencies with effort and physicality," Herman recalled of the season that passed. "… I'm not going to be around here for very long if we keep going 6-6, but my answer is, 'Yeah, but we played hard.' We gotta win. We have to turn playing hard into winning games."

Texas played five games that were decided by six points or fewer. That double-overtime win over K-State was the only victory.

, Herman has one of his own. Sophomore signal callers and junior came out of Saturday's spring game taking their own tussle into the fall.

That makes it a second August -- 17 months overall since Herman took the job -- that Texas is looking for a difference-making QB1 to step forward.

Ehlinger as a player is "much better," Herman said. (He got a letter from Snyder, too.)

"He's a great leader. The kids rally around him. He's throwing the ball better with more confidence, mechanically better," Herman said. "… Shane is doing really good, too. His was never really a mechanical issue. His was more confidence and anticipation, ball placement and familiarity with the system. He has developed nicely."

The quarterbacks did not seem to separate in the spring game. Ehlinger completed 13-of-22 passes for 151 yards. Buechele completed 12 of 21 for 130 yards. Neither is going to make anyone forget Colt McCoy or Vince Young just yet.

Herman would settle for a clear No. 1 guy.

"From Day 1 of the spring, I told the quarterbacks, 'Experiment, rip it in there, man. Try to fit in tight windows. I want you to have that confidence when you do,'" he said. "They're never going to get yelled at for an interception in the spring."

Buechele threw 21 touchdowns as a freshman in 2016 but was plagued by knee and shoulder injuries in 2017.

"At quarterback, when you hold the ball in this game, you have the hopes and dreams, goals, aspirations -- everything -- of your teammates, loved ones in your hands," Herman told the media. "When you think about it that way, you tend to be a lot more cautious with it."

Herman will be 43 entering his fourth season as a head coach when the 2018 campaign kicks off. He still has the 11th-highest winning percentage of any active coach who has spent his entire career in FBS.

Armed with a top-five recruiting class -- including early enrollee QBs Cameron Rising and Casey Thompson -- and a new outlook, Herman will be better and the Big 12 will be better if Texas is better this season.

"I'm a lot better than I was at the end of the year," Herman said. "That was tough, physically and mentally. I've had 14 knee surgeries. I've got a bulging disc in my back. I'm not getting younger.

"I've had a recommitment to working out. That's helped my body incredibly. This team is really fun to coach."

It will be a more fun with a quarterb.Emery is under pressure to keep his job after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Southampton at home made it six games without a win for the Gunners. But Pires still believes Emery is the right maar-old is calling time on his career due to injury. He was at Bury last, where he only played a single game. He is most famous for his FA Cup goal against Manchester United in 2010.That goal took his Leeds side through to the next round.Confirming hisn to lead the club forward."Everybody knows at Arsenal, even Unack who steps up in August.
